Event Pick: Habitat for Humanity Romp at American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar

June 11

While a certain robber baron running for president advocates building a giant wall, others are building lots of smaller ones to make our world a better place. Habitat for Humanity, the nonprofit, Christian-based housing ministry, has helped build more than 400,000 homes for more than 2 million people since it started swinging hammers in 1976. On Saturday, June 11, the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity holds the Romp at American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar. The backyard-game competition will feature teams playing volleyball, giant Jenga, corn hole and other warm-weather diversions to raise money for the charity’s continuing mission to build safe and affordable homes in greater Richmond. The community enriching action runs from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Registration is $20, with grand-prize winners walking away with more than $500 in prizes.
