Event Pick: Michael McDonald at Innsbrook After Hours

Wednesday, June 10

Trust no one over 30. If you still believe in the sentiment expressed by environmental and former new left activist Jack Weinberg in 1964, we can no longer trust Innsbrook After Hours. Why? The beloved and long-running Richmond concert series turns 30 this year. To celebrate its third decade of enabling after-work partying, Innsbrook is offering up shows by a bevy of post-hippie, me-generation favorites and new millennium acts to dispel that antediluvian, age-specific notion. Former Doobie Brother and five-time Grammy Award winner Michael McDonald brings his treasure trove of crowd-pleasing favorites on Wednesday, June 10. Known for his distinctive radio-friendly falsetto, McDonald doesn’t get the credit he deserves as one of most soulful, top-40 Caucasians of the ’70s and ’80s. His chart-topping success helped solidify the colorblind mainstream music dreams of the peace and love generation. Gates open for his performance at 5 p.m. Admission is $15-$99.
